Please pardon my off topic, if there is another thread to which I should address this please let me know.

Can anyone tell me the dos command to initiate a ping or tracer?

A techie walked me through it, but I neglected to write it down properly. It worked great when he was on the line, showing me there server/router links along the way to the internet that were receiving bad packets.

I went to MS dos prompt and entered <copy(?).tracert.com.number of the server of the program you want to trace>.

I have tried several different combinations of the above, but no banana.

Thank you for any help.

Dave, All:

Now that I'm shopping for 100 Mbps networking stuff, I can't figure out what I'm looking at on all the internet vendors, EBAY et cetera.

What are the basic specifications for a simple, home network? What cable specs? What connectors, hub, cards? Are the different brands interchangeable?

I have DSL coming and have three computers, two big boxes and a notebook. Can I put the DSL at a central point near the phone entry into the house and hook up all 3 computers on a network?

What I need to buy, guy?

Thanks for the free consulting, you guys. Does anyone have a website where you pay a few dollars for some simple, individualized answers. You guys should set one up. Make millions, I say.

Peter

Cool site...

pricegrabber.com

shows you Buy.com's great loss leaders.

Can you beleive there are a bunch of anti buy.com sites and people with class action lawsuits because of the hitachi monitor problem. What a joke. Don't people have better things to do??? guess not...

well I love buy.com

Sean
