First of all, my experience in the stock market is hardly extensive. I would never at this point promote myself as an expert in the stock market. My background is in business, econ, etc. and not in short-term trading.

This is probably the wrong place to post it because SI is full of small retail investors, but in the long run, it will probably benefit the market and the economy for some of these investors to lose a lot of money and be scared out of the market. They add negligible liquidity to the market but provide tremendous volatility in the short run and, arguably, incomprehensible valuations in the medium run.
