Scumbria, thanks for the brief history about NFL/AFL.

Now, did this Jet become a very successful team or it
just won that one Superbowl ?

Scumbria,>>>In 1969, Joe Namath and the New York Jets won the AFC Championship and were pitted against the almost perfect Johnny Unitas and the Baltimore Colts. <<<

Unitas was perfect in that game all right as he didn't make any mistakes that I remember - because he was injured most of the season and didn't start in that Superbowl game either. I believe he was ready to play, but I don't think Coach Weeb Eubanks used him at all in that game.

RE:"Prior to the game he was accused of being arrogant, overpaid, hanging
out with the mob, too flashy, too many women, too many fancy cars,
etc, etc. '...

For a minute there I thought you were describing your hero. You know who.
Actually, Joe wasn't in the disfavor that you portrait him. In NYC, he was celebrated as "Broadway Joe". Also the spread on the Colts-Jets game was more like 17, not 30.

And the Jets never did diddly again.
