Really! My broker, who is not a market maker, has been charging me 1.5 cents per share. They charge $5.00 to clear the trade as well. In the past six years, that has come to mean over one hundred thousand dollars. I really learned something today, since I always thought that I was getting a very good deal, which I do on service since I have a direct line to the guy who clears trades rather than a broker. Obviously there are other issues of greater importance such as access to the broker, time to execute an order, filling at the best price, and actually having your side sincerely represented in resolving disputes with the market maker/specialist, I had never thought of squeezing a lower rate on this particular type of transaction. Who knows? Maybe my broker is making a penny on each share, and the market maker is making the half of penny.

At any rate many thanks for your info.
