BEWARE of PLRP. I do not trust Calkins, the CEO and have strong doubts about Pacel...

I once spoke on the phone to Calkins the CEO, who made all sorts of representation about his Company and promised an investor package by courier. I sent him an e-mail quizzing him about some apparent discrepancies between published material and the phone conversation and never got the package or a reply.

As a result, I just sold the last of my 70,000 PLRP for break even and won't touch it again. It also goes without saying that I don't trust Mr Calkins in any shape or form, nor believe his Company is worth investing in.

Here is the e-mail, dated 28th February 1999

Dear Mr Calkins,

I am preparing an evaluation on your Company for investment purposes, that will be published on several threads of Silicon Investor and will be distributed within my investing community.
I have already bought 70,000 shares in your Company last week. I have spent some time today to review the information available on your Web site and found a number of apparent contradictions:

1) You said on the phone that Pacel loses for 1998 were about $100,000. Yet, a $290, 000 net loss is reported for the first 9 months of 1998.

2) You had projected 3 Millions earnings for 1998, later downgraded to $500,000. Yet, I seem to have read that total revenue for 1998 was only $60,000.

3) You make lofty projections for 1999 earnings of some $5 Millions with current software orders of about $4 Millions. What is the status on these figures, as of today?

4) You said on the phone that you had sufficient cash on hand for 6 months of operation. Could you be a little more specific? How do you plan to raise working capital after that?

Please, send me a complete investors' package by DHL, including copies of articles in Wired, Federal Computer Week and Speed Technology in relation to the Sentel partnership; a copy of the Company's Business Plan; full set of financials since 29 June 1998, or earlier; updated realistic revenue/net earning projections.

I need to be fully informed about the Company's prospects, so that I can advise my friends and fellow investors accordingly.

Regards,

F. Goelo

Answer to that e-mail: Zilch! Morality: ask all the questions and satisfy yourself with the answers before buying and/or listen to the advice of someone who has had first hand experience. All of the above is only my opinion and belief.
