No, the Jets are still in the NFL. They have had some good seasons since 69', no super bowl championships though. This year they got to the final 4 teams left but were defeated by Denver, the eventual super bowl champ in the AFC championship game.
The '69 Jets will always be remembered as the team that first defeated the best of the old NFC and Joe will always be admired as the one that gave credibility to the younger AFC. Eventually this lead to the merger of the two leagues a few years later....and a lot bigger paydays,
