Don't try to find too much reason behind the ups and downs beyond investor psychology. The sector has been hit, and everybody (even those doomsday analysts) is waiting to see where it bottoms to cause the next great run-up. This is a boat no one wants to miss, and yet are afraid because of volitility.

It will turn on a dime, run up big, sell back some, and repeat itself until some day it matures. But news driven? Earnings drive? Nah.

The biggest rumor I hear everywhere is about AOL buying CBS. Both parties say it isn't true but the rumor has legs. Maybe if the buyout happens, that would be the big news to "start the party once again"
