Well, after reading that Barron's Online article I guess it's safe to say that the Compaq news can't get any worse...

Or can it? :-O

MarkN: I'm not sure if you are familiar with contributors to this thread. My job is to be positive, no matter what. This is what I derived from that story:

(1) COMPAQ does not stuff channels, does not have inventory overhang and manufactures to order.

(2) COMPAQ has the best prices, a well-laid out site which encourages shoppers to buy accessories.

(3) Even when a line is discontinued, COMPAQ will do its best to honour its advertisements, even though it could have insisted that all products and prices ae subject to availability.

(4) Despite the verbal criticisms of the customer, COMPAQ salespeople were unfailingingly polite and helpful.

(5) COMPAQ agreed immediately to a refund even though the customer was being unreasonable and gave a flippant reason for the return of the product.

(6) Even though the customer gave the wrong telephone number making delivery impossible, COMPAQ reserved the unit for him until he called in and gave the correct number.

(7) The author of the article was a DELLHEAD.
