EMC will have a chance to defend themselves soon enough- the Conference call should alleviate some short term uncertainty.

Appears to be the normal sector rotation that occurs every few months. Cyclicals in - Big Tech out. Wait 3 weeks when all earnings are out and institutions realize that Catepillar just wont do in a growth fund.

Shareholder since 96.

All you need is a couple mutual funds to sell to generate this type of action... which can turn on a dime... If your time horizon is greater than 6 months, it is a non-issue. Good Luck

KB,

The same happened last October--to a greater extent perhaps--and only to reverse direction within weeks. Some quality stocks saw fluctuations of greater than 50% without any justification whatsoever.

Many mutual funds are now managed by 29-yr old B-school graduates whose previous job--before receiving their MBA union cards, I am told--may have been flipping hamburgers.

emc won't make the same mistake about break neck hill. as Nealy did in their analyst meeting. emc home office is start of race on Monday....for boston Marathon. coo of Sunw told McNealy to stick to golf as he knows nothing about racing.<g>
coo of sunw also said conference call was upbeat but analysts wanted assurances of y2k. He stated we can only give them where we are headed. He felt stock hit unjustly.

I only mention this as the same could happen @ emc meeting. Good news but institutions looking for impossible statements.
