As we are going into the e-commerce age, there will be zillions of online companies. Even though the big ones like the Amzn's, egrp's, ebay's, and yahoo's will dominate the market in their own segment, immense competition from smaller shops are right behind them. On the other hand, the equipment providers will be the one really benefit from all these as the network equipment industry has been consolidating and the movement is far from done yet. The big three, Lucent, Nortel, and Cisco will be the beneficiaries for all the capital equipment costs to support this massive e-commerce wave to satisfy the worldwide demand. The food chain includes but not limited to the following:

comsumer ->
internet commerce ->
carriers/service provider ->
network equip vendor ->
component vendor &
sw/hw tool vendor

make sure you have all these sectors covered to capitalized in the next five years to say the least
