Hi,

Firstly, I am a long time EMC stock holder…
Secondly, I am long on EMC. I am not selling…
Thirdly, this information was e-mailed to me from a financial planner in the DC area.

Thanks

JKS

First let me introduce myself. Former executive form major communications company responsible for initiating and managing new capital investments in ASIA and Europe.

Decided to break out on my own. Currently enrolled in the Chartered Financial Analyst Program ( successfully passed level 1 ).
I'm a long-term holder of EMC.

I believe the "Insider Selling" that DOV was referring to was a stock market letter called "Rothstein" as in Jack Rothstein Stock Market Letter."JRMONEY.COM" He keeps a stable of about 25 "in favor" stocks and sends out updates/e-mails etc. The good news is that the companies in "The Rothstein 25" tend to be high quality companies. The bad new is that he tends to contradict himself wrt taking long-term vs short-term positions. He also does not reveal his distinctions for taking a particular sell action. It's as if he's afraid to reveal too much, because his ultimate goal is to manange your portfolio (minimum 400k). He likes to keep a certain mystique about why he is taking a particular action, unless he's buying. In that case there is a well written explaination for his rationale. Again I like a lot of the companies on his favorite list.

Here's the interesting part: Got an e-mail this morning from the service that said Jack thought the fundamentals were in tact for EMC and QWST and that yesterdays drop was a buying opportunity... he was "nibbling a bit". A half hour later he sends an e-mail saying he's thinking seriously about selling EMC because it leaked out that institutions were selling because the EGANS were selling millions of shares. Shortly after another e-mail arrives saying he sold his EMC position and will roll the proceeds into SUNW.

As another poster stated the EGANS have a histoy of regularly selling large blocks of shares. As to wether they sold a materially larger block this time, I have been unable to confirm.

I love the fundamentals of this company and will continue to hold and add to my position. Anyone that lumps EMC into the commodity disk drive manufactures doesn't have a clue.

Two other interesting points with wrt to Rothstein:

1. He was over the moon with TLAB last year before they got hit. When the stock initially got whacked he claimed it was a good buying opportunity. A few days later it was off the Rothstein 25 list and he announced he sold his position. Again there was little explaination about the distictions for his sudden change. Fortunately, I partnered wth TLAB on an opportunity in Malaysia some years ago ( in my prior life) and met with Michael Birck in Kuala Lumpur and Lyle Ill. He was very impressive focused and no pretenses. I diden't sell my shares and I'm glad.

2. He was asked late last year/early this year about his number one pick wrt best chance for a double. Although he was reluctant he mentioned EMC.

My take is that Rothstein is much better on the buy side than on the sell side, but perhabs I just don't understand his complete approach. Sorry for the long response, but it really bothers me when so called investment professionals give incomplete answers especially when selling something that they were endorsing hours earlier. The distinctions for "why" are everythig.

All the best to all LT EMC holders.
