Hi Douglas; Re I personally would recommend negotiations and economic incentives, embargoes to achieve aims in the Balkans. NATO airstrikes are tilting the balance of power in the Balkans to the extent it probably means additional warfare and fighting will continue for years to come which will also involve NATO. I agree; The carrot would be cheaper, and a hell of a lot more humane, in a nut shell this thing is being driven by some hardliners who stand to profit, and if it goes on we will discover some time in the future that while ethic problems are real enough , there is a lot more to it than that and the ethic problems of themself could have been worked out. Thanx for the very informative post. This may seem way out in left field but it should not to be ruled out Why and how did so many Mujahedeen show up in the area ? I did a heads up on that over 3 years ago !! but who was concerned back then ? Other Mercenaries in the KLA have recently been shown on TV right in front of every ones eyes but taths not pointed at so the public don't seem to see it. No one is asking who is paying for them either, and the news is not doing any kind of job in tracing the money, the old axiom is if you want to know what's going on "follow the money trail". I know that can be hard with all the drug money that's used to fund this sort of stuff, but the News media is not even trying I'm really disgusted with the news coverage and the thirst for blood they have. After thought, THIS WAS WRITTEN IN 1996 it was on my home page but I did away with the page. The Mujahedeen, We sent in our troops to the Balkans so as to have an excuse to give these Mujahedeens guns, and we can't pull out until we do. There is a joke here somewhere, I just haven't figured it out yet. The Mujahedeen ...I have to go back and check some old news papers, but if my memory is correct this is one of the most militant and terrorist type of gangs. The CIA sponsored them in Afghanistan but told then not to use car bombs and such stuff, so they didn't, ....they used camels. Now an Arab type gang that would blow up camels to get at the opposition I consider kinda ruthless. ( seems Klingons are tame compared to these guys. ) and we gave them guns ? Maybe the Mujahedeen with their hands on our guns , will suddenly become peaceful. Who can we thank for setting up this joke ? Hint..It's in the New York Times, if you connect the dots. What are Mujahedeen now doing in Yugoslavia or should I say what's left of it ? again that was 96...& no one caught the joke so now it's on us, 3 cheers for the CIA. Jim

Douglas; and All; I just "watched" Sandy Berger on PBS, and this was the First time I turned on my x-ray vision and went into lip reading mode ( to look him over good)...holycrap he is a complete mess it's scary to think this guy is our National Security Advisor. He looked in physical pain, his hair, suit, and general appearance was in disarray , how he went on TV or they even let him is beyond me..his talk went from mumbles to disorganize, there were more ah ah ah ahs, ( worse than FORD was when he first became President,) ( but they sent him to a speech class ) Berger is worse this guy can't even seem to talk. On top of that what talking he did he had no idea of what he was talking about, just a few canned statements that you could tell were not original and he had no conviction, it was like he was fighting to get the words out. Over and over the same weak drum beat and the drummer half dead, his face was cherubic and swollen like it was going to burst through his skin, he was awkward and almost incoherent, to tell the truth he looked drugged. I have never looked him over this hard before but this man can't even hold himself together , it was embarrassing to watch & I found my self grimacing not so much as what he was trying to say, but at the very thought that THIS is what we have for a National Security Adviser, may god help us. Who could take that bag of jelly serious ? I thought Madame Albright was bad but Berger makes her look like Madonna The reporter asking rather timid questions had this guy going ah ah and reaching for some straw answer that he couldn't quite seem to find, my god I hope we don't go in with troops if that's a sample of who is doing the planing we will get slaughtered. ------------------------ This guy a security advisor ! I couldn't and still don't want to believe my eyes , he needs a doctor, several doctors, he really looked in worse shape than any of the Kosovo refugees. Who in the hell gave him that job ???? Holy *&% I have no comment on what he said, none of it made any sense and I'm still feeling embarrassed that something like that could hold such a post in a Government that's supposed to represent me. I think we have an even more serious problem, than I ever did and feel we are in deep do do, hell we might be better off if we surrender to the Serbs than to put up with this administration. I'm serious here we are rushing into the "age of terrorism" and we have a national security advisor that is a total basket case. I will add just in case they put him on TV again, I'm sure the camera men had very bright lights shining right in the poor guys eyes, & they should have rehearsed it some to let him get comfortable, not just for his sake but for mine, that's too embarrassing, where in the hell was the make up man, you don't let our National Security Advisor go on TV like that It was almost pornographic by my standards !!
