I bet that's what the poor guy that started the fake PairGain buyout rumor is trying to tell the judge right now.

What's the difference in starting a false rumor about a buyout, and starting a false rumor about a stock split? Since both things, if true, will move a stock in this market, why is one ok and one isnt?
