>Let's look at exactly what time is. As I see it, it is a measuring device. TLC, Time is not a measuring device. A clock, as I understand it, is a measuring device for measuring time. And PnF certainly isn't a time measuring device. >Two "Xs" means time has passed. That's all there is to it. Two X's in a PnF chart do not mark time. Time in no way determines the placement of the X's. The X's, as I understand it, mark price movement, completely irrespective of time. >In my opinion, your assertion that P&F cannot be fully based in reality because there 'is no time demonstrated' cannot possibly be accurate >I am not fully convinced that time is a requisite for reality. The reality of the market, as I understand it, is that time - and timing in particular of entry and exit points - is absolutely critical to making money vs. losing money. If one buys or sells at the wrong time, then money can be lost. There is nothing, to my knowledge, about PnF that indicates "when" to enter or exit the market. Timing is left entirely to one's judgment based upon non-time factors. Those non-time factors being supply/demand. A PnF chart shows supply forces relative to demand forces in two dimensions only. So if the reality is that timing is a crucial component, or a third dimension, of investing, and if PnF doesn't chart time, but only charts supply and demand in two dimensions, then PnF isn't based in reality relative to the market. Because in order to use the market for money-making purposes, one must use time. Time, as measured by a clock, not by a PnF chart. Having said all that, is is true, as you suggested, that the next X can't be placed on a PnF chart without the passage of time. But since measurable elapsed time has no bearing upon "when", but only "if", the next X is placed, then time is not a factor directly related to placement of the X. And if time isn't a determining factor "when" the next X is placed, then it seems reasonable to say one can't conclude the X indicates the time is right to make a determination when to enter the market. One can only say...perhaps due to the existing supply/demand ratio, now, or some other particular time, would be appropriate to enter the market. But that is based solely upon supply/demand factors as reflected in the PnF chart, not upon time per se. At least that's how I see it, FWIW. Ice
