>>>Once Integrated chipset/graphics chips hit the mainstream for Celron/Sub $500 PCs, from Intel, SIII/Via, SIS and Micron , ATI will be put out to pature if they don't have their version out soon. With the Sub $500 PCs, all that matters is cost.<<<

You're kidding right? The only one of that bunch that even makes a decent graphics chip is S3. ATI will have their own SOC out well before any of the competition. And in case you forget, ATI is the king of cost reduction. That's the reason it sells so many chips to all the OEM's -- not just performance. It has the right mix, and now with Rage128, it dominates in the performance arena as well. At least ATI has been extremely proactive in acquiring Chromatics and working towards this goal for quite some time now. The very thing that investors boo'ed 6 months ago is what is going to save ATI's bacon over the next two years in the low-end market. It's not ATI that needs to be worried -- it's companies like nVidia who haven't taken any steps to address this future concern.

<<Drives Pentium III Systems for Spring 1999>>

Huh, i guess the important word here is SPRING, or is it ALL , or maybe NEW.

This is once again nVidia HYPE like S3 has been doing , but the fact remain that they haven't announce ONE model yet, i wonder why ?? so no design wins here. Still all the PIII i see on the big 5 manufacturers web site are using 80% ATI accelerator for the ALL NEW PIII.

Let's look at some examples

HP Pavilion 8490 PC
Microprocessor Intel® Pentium® III processor 500MHz

DELL DIMENSION

Power-Packed Intel® Pentium® III Performance!

NEC

wow this is the best try to compare the graphic of all models
about 40 and tell me what graphics accelerators they are using.
