I don't think so! I am sure you know US History , but maybe you should read something on the Balkan's history, so you may understand the origin of the present conflict. (CNN is not a good source for history lessons!) There is a parallel. Serbians lost battle of Kosovo in 1398. The Ottoman Turks assisted by the Arnaut (Albanian) volunteers destroyed the Serbian force and impaled 50000 prisoners! This defeat brought together the various Slavic tribes that occuppied the area between the Rivers Danube, Lim, and Sava. The terrible consequence of this defeat was 500 years of Ottoman Rule in Serbia.( The Ottoman troops left Belgrade in late 1880's after 500 years of domination.) The defeat at Kosovo united Serbs against the common enemy, Ottoman Turks and their Moslem allies, the Albnians! Today Serbs celebrate the Deafeat of Kosovo the same way in Texas, the Battle of Alamo is celbrated. Here the parallel ends! Texans on Almo day don't kill Mexican-American, and vice versa! Civilized people read about history and learn from it. This dosen't mean that Texans love Mexicans or vice versa. They co-exist together in a civilized society, the can live on the same lane and not talk to eachother. In less civilized society, such, people are thought that if you don't like your neighbours, then the only way you can avoid him is to kill him or burning his house! The "Battle of Kosovo" has become the battle cry for Serbs unity. During their history, this hysteria has played in the hands of is their leaders as it is being used by Milosovic and his regime.
