Simple... you are using two charts that aren't correlated, and super imposing them onto each other. They aren't similar, but proportionate... and that proportional is the price of gold.
XAU is an index, the ratio is a normalized cash index. So you can create the charts to bounce off each other... Rescale one axis, and the will cross too...

PS: Now you know why I don't hang on Kitco.
