Richard : It is the same one, indeed. And, as you see, I can also entertain the idea of conspiracies.

But, why I don't believe in the gold price conspiracy is that I don't see the reason for it. My own analysis shows me that it is correctly priced in relation to its trend from 1978 and the value of the currencies. Furthermore, I find it hard to believe that the people who own the most gold, or are friends of the gold owners, are allegedly the ones who are conspiring to lower its price.

Imagination is one thing, but one has to guard against paranoia. Unfortunately the goldbugs, who got on the train facing the wrong way, believed, for the past three years at least, that gold was going up and the market was going down. In view of such a manifestly wrong perception of the world, reinforced by the pronouncements of their "false prophets" and "Pied Pipers", I suppose it is only natural for them to believe that there is a conspiracy against them. Especially when they must have been financially hammered so hard by their faulty judgement.

Thanks for the good wishes which are heartily reciprocated. It is a lovely, sunny day in Joburg.

As a mostly lurker, you prompted me to wrire now!

>>JFK was assasinated because he didn't want to make war on Cuba/Vietnam. <<

As a long time study of the Kennedy era, I think you have this statement totally backwards. Kennedy was advised to stay out of Vietnam "no matter what" by just about every agency that had any sort of input at all. Eisenhower's last words when turning over the reigns were, fight in LAos, Cambodia, where ever you want in South East Asia but don't get involved in Vietnam as it can not be won. So Kennedy went rushing in. Kennedy hated civil rights and behind the scenes tried everything to under mine it but when public polls showed he was onthe wrong side, he acted like he was a supporter.

The Cuba Crisis was enough of a boondoggle to write a novel on so I won't address it here other than to say, Kennedy's state of mind was in serious question through out the ordeal and I think it WAS the final straw on the back so to speak that prompted the assasination.

If the truth about the Kennedy era ever could be made public, he would go down as the worst President in US history. Of course the dumbing down of America will ensure he is always seen in a positive light.

Clinton admired him and is headed the same way. Clinton means well, I will give him that but he is a slut, set up or not is not the issue. He makes lousy decisions, takes credit for previous administration' or Congress' accomplishments and uses the military as a proxy to take the heat off his own screw ups when the heat gets turned up. Note how he has entered us into another Vietnam type event now but that it has succeeded in dropping the questions about the tie in to the nuclear secrets being stolen by a resident of the country that contributed all the illegal campaign money.

As one of the pawns he uses, We have the most distaste for this idiot draft dodger but all we can do is complain and wait for his term to end as we go from Kosovo to Iraq back and forth. Too bad we couldn't loan a B-52 to the Serbians for an afternoon with the coordinates to Pennsylvania avenue already programmed in. Then we could all go and roast marshmallows.

I get from your post you are no Clinton lover but I do not see him as a hawk. Just someone who uses an organization he dislikes to do his dirty cover up work. If he keeps this up, he will not only take credit for the cold war ending, but for starting it back up again.

Good Luck,

Lee
EDIT - Guess I should write something about gold - My XAU chart can be viwed off my link on the MDA site at homestead.com Seems to look like a further run to 72 then a reverse back down at least short term.
