maybe we should sniff out this California Amplifier that redwood brought up here recently (though with only primarily-sleazeball Cruttendon-Roth following, doubt we'll get much formal street feedback. Some of the regulars might track and know them however.) Anyway: Subject 2628 biz.yahoo.com messages.yahoo.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Calif Amplifier, Wavepath Deploy 2-Way Wireless Internet Sys CAMARILLO, Calif. (Dow Jones)--California Amplifier Inc. (CAMP) and Wavepath installed a two-way wireless broadband system using MMDS and MDS frequencies from a 20 degree sectorized antenna. The network will be used for high-speed Internet access. In a press release Tuesday, California Amplifier said the system uses its RF and antenna equipment. The network uses the MMDS, which is 2.5 to 2.686 gigahertz, frequency band to transmit signals to subscribers and the MDS, which is 2.15 to 2.162 GHz, frequency band to transmit signals on the return path. California Amplifier's Yagi-Horn antenna can handle the two-way transmissions either as a customer premises antenna for commercial buildings or as a hub-receive antenna for a sectorized system. In a sectorized system, the antenna allows for the reuse of upstream frequencies in alternating sectors. California Amplifier shares were recently trading up 1 23/32, or 47.4%, at 5 11/32 on Nasdaq-volume of 775,200. The stock's average daily volume is 71,000 shares. Wavepath provides wireless broadband local loop Internet service in the San Francisco Bay area. California Amplifier supplies RF subscriber equipment to the wireless broadband industry.
