Thought you meant you had the only bid at the best price. Sounds like there were more orders at that price. Probably needed to pick up larger orders to fill a sell order. I'm not sure that they have to do orders in the order they are placed. I know NASDAQ can skip over orders but I don't think AMEX can. Some of those orders could be direct withen institutions and mutual funds. Such as when Fidelity converted their prefered's and sold them to another Fidelity Fund. Not traded on the AMEX but done at the current price and added to the volume.
