Folks: The rumor may very well have some basis. I remember reading a note from the Motley Fool a couple months ago indicating AMZN was tinkering with the idea of increasing the number of shares up to one billion (repeat: one billion shares, not dollars) for acquisition purposes and to repel any potential take over (this latter reasoning is questionable, who will take over such a behemoth anyway). I do think that this can only be done through a combination of debenture release, secondary offering, and most likely, substantial ratio of splits.

I would definitely not short this stock at this stage of the game.

God Bless.

>> or Amazon could change their minds.<<
Rs, I thought that changing one's mind was an exclusive that only women have.<g>
The Bezos pr machine would let you believe it was all in the original business plan, while we know it's all seat of the pants.
I'll tell you what, give me $1.3 bil in $cash, with 10 years before I have to pay back. I'll give you some action and so will Bezos.
I'll never bet against Bezos with that size of war-chest.
A hedge? That's different, but I'm running out of time.
