Maurice and all,

While flying back from the other side of Pacific, I suddenly realized that G* will need some ground stations to cover a 13,000 mile stretch of the Pacific if one wants to make a phone calls through G* satellite. I barely remembered that G* sat. has about 3,000 miles coverage. And Maurice mentioned something about G's sats. preserving energy while flying over the less populated areas such as the Pacific. I noticed there are a lot of ship traffics around both sides of the Pacific coast. I am sure some people at sea will need to make a phone call besides using Moss radio stuffs, right?

What is G* plan for the ocean coverage? Does it mean that one can not make an effective sat. phone call while at sea? Or one can still make the call through undersea cable, etc without building a ground station somewhere at sea?

Any comments?

Brian H.
