Curtis,

It all depends on how you want to look at this.

For example how does $5.00/share compare to:

1)The all time trading high set in October 1997(18 months ago) of 41 7/8?

5 1/32 is 88% below that all time high

2)The trading high in 1994? 1995? 1996? All years before a single unit of MUSE was sold.

Granted domestic product sales dropped sharply after Viagra was released one year ago and Vivus has never had a real sales force detailing MUSE domestically to the PCPs. Management made some major miscalculations regarding the impact Viagra would have on MUSE sales. The exCFO IMO did a diplorable job(eg share buy back fiasco) but again the buck stops on the CEO's desk.

But this is all water under the bridge. the past is gone and IMO the stock price does not reflect fair value based on this small biotech company's achievements over the past 3 years not to mention the new R&D developments and patents granted to Vivus.

IMHO if the shorts would take a hike Vivus would be a $20/share stock.

I hope a few deep pocketed institutions soon jump in and have the greedy manipulative shorts realize that eventually they will lose this ugly battle.

If one was smart enough to be a big buyer at 2.5 then yes they are doing very well. But I know that the majority of large share holders here on SI have averages well above 5 - some even have an average cost basis in the mid to upper 20's.

When you have a cost basis of 20, 5 is nothing to get too excited about now is it?
