Flatsville -

.And there my friends...yes, THERE was essentially the SAME ADD I saw 3 1/2-4 years ago seeking to fill the SAME position with someone...yes, believe it or not...with WINDOWS 3.1 experience. Ooops...Go figure...ROTFLMAO

Why am I not surprised.

Good, hard numbers are always worth repeating in this game... eventually I hope the message sinks in that there is trainloads of software out there...

There's a desktop software encyclopedia that lists 3,056 publishers (vendors) and 21,000 products. These are obviously commercial products, not the sort of stuff that good ol' Cousin Larry wrote in dBase II when he was a pup just practicing on the family business's inventory control system.

And then factor in (particularly at the base of the economic pyramid where the rule is "If it ain't broke, don't fix it.") the old dead products. In the dawn of desktop computing time, there was a successfull accounting package called "Rags to Riches." Primarily ran under the CP/M operating system. This product is loooooong dead & the vendor totally vanished... except said ex-vendor is still receiving commission checks from the forms suppliers!!!!

Listen up BillyBoy (BillG)... there are lots & lots of folks still running mission critical (what counts is THEIR perspective) stuff on long dead versions of out-of-business vendor products. For this market niche, upgrading to Win3.1 would be a stretch.
