In all honesty, I didn't ask anything that should be confirmed by the company. Rather topographic/geologic maps of the area to determine the source of these gemstones is where this information could be gathered. I don't doubt that the gems really exist there. I've even found sources which mentioned the area as a location for emeralds (Beryl). And if other mining camps could be found on locator maps, this would be additional supporting evidence that the mining of these stones is economically profitable.

The part about environmental impact.... well, that's just a personal peeve of mine. I have no control over what the regulations are over there but I would guess quite lenient and company friendly. So, that is of little value, except on a personal level.
