Checked out your post and am sure some of that will play. Do see real danger with the online brokerages due to the nature of their client base (heavey into internuts) and potential liquidity issues with them. They won't have to worry about low volume. What happens if the market falls so fast that they can't liquidate margin accounts that have become worthless and negative account values result? If it happens with enough of them they might have a problem clearing trades. Rumors would create a "run on the brokerage" further encouraging "investors" it head to the exits.
Datek BTW provides 500,000 insurance through SIPC and an additional 2.0mil through a private insurer. NO MORE THAN 100,000 (OF THE SPIC) MAY BE USED TO COVER CASH AWAITING REINVESTMENT. Sounds like if you win too big (meaning your in cash) you loose and if your not in cash..... well that mightn't be too good, but your insurance will make sure that their enough to print the stock certificates and mail them to you.
Hmmmm, think a couple of accounts might'n not be a bad idea. Gotta remember tha check writing feature (don't have to wait for them to send the money) as a couple of day's might make a difference. Can't stop thinking of those old B/W movies where they closed the banks and the people lined up outside.
Somethin tells me it won't be quite as humerous as it sounds.

Best Regards, Mad2
