Market magnets 4.20.99 notes Dow: 10424 utrend held. Weekly buy intact with a close here or higher Friday. Todays action did not reset the short term techs which would have pointed to a strong up week. In fact, the techs weakened quite a bit. The 10424 utrend holding was the only positive to the day. Nasdaq: Close here Friday is a weekly SELL signal. Thought the 2402 key dtrend was going to hold after the 3 different bounces of off it. But the selling in the last hour was just to strong. Time to start thinking what is below nas which would provide some support. 2297 utrend is very much a key mag tline. It acted as resistance for the tops of April and July 98 and was the support for the dips in Feb and March 99. There is also the 2055 horizontal mag. Its a strong rated magnet and was marginally tested in Dec of 98. A retest is not out of the question. SP500: Close here weekly HOLD rating. Not to far from the 85 line which is 1253 utrend. Nasdaq 100: 1975 strong mag has been fully tested. NDX was not carrying at as luggage. A return to it is nothing less than bearish. Possible trip to the 16-1700s not out of the question here. Close here Friday is a weekly SELL signal. Overall I am working toward cash and short positions on rallys from here. If the Dow gives up the 10424 utrend (end of day) there will be little to say positively out of the magnets.
