Eric, I use Waterhouse. Executions are usually instantaneous, it's the confirmations that can be slow. Usually it's limited to trades placed in the first 20 minutes, and very unusual situations such as when the TLAB/CIEN deal came apart. I almost never miss my trade using limits 1/16 or an 1/8 off the inside. I have found the slippage to be much worse if I use a market order, so I never use them anymore. I know that market orders are supposed to get priority, but it's not my experience. I'm pretty sure the times I've missed getting filled are because my data feed is slow, rather than not getting auto executed. Waterhouse may not be the best, but every time I examine the grass on the other side of the fence (Brown, JPR, MB Trading) it really isn't any greener.
