Well I understand completely where you are laying the blame. The problem is that the internet has further pushed the "report it now, validate it later" mentality. Don't get me wrong I *love* the internet. Think it's a great thing that may well be the begining of the end of 'physically based biases'. However, people have to be very careful.

As for the professor, I'm sure next year he'll use K8 and Willamet code names. You have to, in order to allow the students to feel like they are doing something interesting. I have had to work with late undergraduate students (3rd and 4th year) and graduate students. You have to keep them interested in what they are doing or they produce shit. It's that simple.
