Dell # 78 in 1999 FORTUNE 500....up from #125 in 1998's rankings, with 1998 revenues of $18.2 billion and profits of $1.5 billion. It's quite interesting to look at the GROWTH RATE for the top 77 companies' revenues and profits, compared to Dell. Only a handful (mostly banks) top Dell's 48% growth in revenues and 54.7% growth rate in profits. Some interesting comparisons, Company/ rank/ rev% change/ profit % change: IBM 6/4/4; GE 5/10/13; Home Depot: 32/25/39; LU 33/14/79; SBC 35/16/173; MOT 34/(1.3)/181.5); First Union 56/50/52.5; WFB 62/112/44.3; XEROX 63/10/(73); Raytheon 69/43/64 (way to go, Ratheon!) ; American Exp 72/7.7/7.5; KO 73/(0.3)/(14.4) (everybody's favorite, right?); UAL 82/1.1/(13.5); Sprint 88/15.2/(56.5); and alas.....last, and perhaps least: CPQ: 28/26.8/(247.9).

Kemble's right....just keep buying Dell!
