Ian:

From a TA POV, MTSN went through its 50,100 and 200-day moving averages on Friday. I'll be willing to call it a breakout. Russell2000 up 4% last week vs NASDAQ -4%. Long over-due rotation to small caps? I think we'll see more coverage on MTSN soon.

Regards, mr.bill

Ian;

Yes, I agree, it will take some time. We'll need to:

- pick up a few more analysts, I'll think we'll pick up 1 after this CC, still will need at least 1 more. Would help if it were someone well known, say a Gunnar Miller at Goldman, began coverage.

- establish profitable growth - hold down expenses as the revenue grows during the upturn. Now that we finally do have multiple product lines in place, the focus needs include making $ during the upturn, not just growing rev's.

- continue growth the the areas outside strip, with multiple production orders at multiple customers in CVD, RTP, and EPI.

- overtake GSNX for the #1 strip position. I think this will be in 1999 and the data for this out in just under 1 year from now.

- get a general shift in the market away from hating small caps. I'm not sure this shift has started yet.

- And finally, get these things to the point that the fund managers want to invest in Mattson.

I think all of this will happen in stages over the next 2 years, with much occuring during the next 6 months. The shift, and the stock price with it, will not happen in 1 big move, but gradually over time. This will result in a significant out performance to the sector in general from current levels through the upturn. Those who wait for these things to happen first will miss the bus, IMHO.
