Esteban, thanks for the reply. What you say about bid vs ask executions makes sense.

You also mentioned to take a look at all of the unhappy traders who can't place or cancel orders in the first 30 minutes of the day.

I see these messages too, but often it appears that what is really slow is confirmation of an order and cancellation of an order. In most cases, isn't the actual execution still quite fast (say, under 30 seconds?), and it's the confirmation that is slow in coming.

I was also wondering about the speed of the messages page vs the daily activity page -- i thought I read where somebody said that, around market openings, the messages containing confirmation of execution come several minutes before the daily activity page gets updated.

Just trying to figure out the best way to approach this time of day, because I usually don't start trading until 9:45 and on...
