Not any more. My brother is a large animal vet and this is a not a rare problem with large animals like horses and cows, although not usually fatal if you pay attention to your critters. Don't ever leave an oats bin open around horses (which weren't exactly towards the front of the line when God was handing out brains) 'cause they will stuff themselves and all sorts of problems can follow. I don't know exactly what the deal was with Secretariat, but somehow it got out of control.
