I've used it many times over the years in many different contexts in a multitude of countries and it never ceased to be the final, irrefutable response in a debate or argument. It was one of the two things that you could say that there was no counter response to. The other one was "Meine Tante hat fierzig Kuhe und acht Pferde", which translates as "My aunt has forty cows and eight horses" and is apropos of absolutely nothing but never failed to impress friends and baffle enemies.
