GoNorth,

How do you know Bid.Com has "never done one nickel's worth" of B2B? Where did you come by this information?

Bid.Com International Inc., (TSE Symbol: BII) one of North America's leading on-line auctions, today announced the addition of a business-to-business sales area to its international e-commerce site.

The company also announced that The ASCII Group (Canada) a 340-member-strong network of independent computer resellers, has formally recognized Bid.Com as a preferred vendor to its members, and will promote Bid.Com's products and services within the ASCII organization.

"This new business-to-business area will focus on the value-added reseller (VAR) market," said Jeff Lymburner, President of Bid.Com International Inc. "We're enormously excited about launching this VAR site as a complement to our existing consumer-focused area. The addition of this business-to-business segment is consistent with our strategy to create multiple revenue streams as our business plan matures."

"Our supply chain includes a huge selection of products that are ideally suited to the reseller market," he continued. "By aggregating these products for ASCII members and other qualified resellers, we access a new and significant portion of the on-line audience, and provide resellers with an efficient distribution mechanism across multiple brand names and categories."

"We're excited about this opportunity to provide value to our members through Bid.Com," said Jim Trueman, President of The ASCII Group (Canada). "We continually strive to provide our members with new value-added services. Bid.Com's business-to-business site is a convenient and cost-effective resource for computer resellers."

The site will be accessible to pre-qualified resellers and professional buyers across Canada, with a similar selection being offered to U.S. resellers through Bid.Com's American auction site beginning in January 1999."

As for live auctions, Paul Godin has stated that they would be doing such things in the near future, as well as adding audio and video.

"The licensing of Bid.Com's technology beyond the Web," Mr. Godin continued, "is a major step in realizing our vision of multi-media exploitation of our technology. We are pursuing pioneering opportunities in broadband, set-top box/Web TV, and network television, in addition to leading-edge improvements in the consumer experience offered through narrowband."

Commenting on the vision, Mark Graff, president and chief executive officer of AIME said, for example, "We envision celebrities hosting live auctions utilizing the two way or interactive capabilities of the next generation set top boxes. We will be creating the shopping channel of the future, where interactivity, viewer participation and 'fun' are added to the shopping experience."

Paul Godin, chairman and chief executive of BID.COM added that "by licensing our technology beyond the Web, we are taking a major step in realizing our vision of multi-media exploitation of our technology."
