unemployment sky-rocket to 15%, Social Security and Medicare are effectively bankrupt prompting to taxes going to over 55% as major corporations retreat to vibrant China..racial violence breaks-out in several major cities..

What about the U.S. spending itself to death. A little war here, a police action there, etc. Along with the burst of the stock market bubble and in combination of the decline in the spending habits of the baby boom generation @2012. Throw in the natural tendency of both the people and their leaders to overreact the whole story could go into a tailspin that would give at least 3 other candidates a chance for dominance: United Europe (i.e. Germany), Japan, and China.
