Sector Investor, I know, that you know, that I know, that.... Granite notwithstanding, have you considered what a broad-based optical layer deployment for enterprises would mean to CSCO's line? Or Bay/NT's for that matter? Take a look at MRV's own Fusion product, or Sycamore's model, and you tell me... how many routers are obviated in those two scenarios if you were to extend a network's topology among fifteen or twenty metropolitan based offices? First there would be the missing sales at the carrier or ISP level, and then there would be the missing slots at both ends of every end point combination. Since optical solutions will be less costly than optoelectronic Layer 3 conversions, up and down, multiple times, I think you can see my point. Perhaps somewhere along the line some of their products would get cannibalized, don't you think? Which is a secondary rationalization to my main point, but it does support why they are in no rush to compete at this level in the metro space, especially among their enterprise customers who are now finding new ways every day to obtain dark fiber. It wasn't my intent to take anything away from MRVC, indeed I've commented in the past about how well I thought the MetroFusion product positioned them in the carrier space. But I've also noted in the past how well they do at keeping their image obfuscated from crucial players, and the problems they have with presenting a unified image to the public. In your reply to me you have mentioned a number of disjointed product and company names, and even though I now know that they are one now (I'm correct about that point, aren't I?) I'm still having a problem at the cognitive level with the image. It's better now than before, but they aren't entirely there yet with an identifiable persona. Maybe it's just me. In the final analysis, what will the product name be that buyers should be on the lookout for? Is it MRV, or Xyplex, or NBase, or MetroFusion's maker, or whom? I'm not being facetious, as I hope you well know. I'm asking you a legitimate question which should serve to highlight not only my confusion, at times, but that which somevery important others have experienced at times, as well. Regards, Frank Coluccio
