DavidG: My take on MU is pretty simplistic: when DRAM is dropping (~March-now, ~Aug 98) MU is a good short/put candidate; when DRAM is flat/rising its time to hibernate (~Oct-Feb). DRAM pricing seems to have relatively long periods of stability (~4-6 months) interspersed with relatively quick drops of 1-2 months.

MU also has a mountain of debt, poorly performing assets (MUEI/LEHI-remember the microchip?), vicious competition and 50+% of their market will disappear when embedded DRAM/processors are in low cost PCs (perhaps as soon as 12-18 months from now). For these and other reasons I only play the short/put side.
