I have read that these things happen. I have also read that the rapist uses these things as a balm to his ego, that the victim "wanted it." How hideous. I have also read, and this is the most pathetic, that victims of incest flagellate themselves for the rest of their lives becaus their bodies responded to the victimization.

You and I know that the conscious mind must consent. The body has its animal aspects, and is not under conscious control. A brave man cannot control his fear, but he does not have to surrender to it. A professional performer may tremble, but performs nevertheless. There is no shame in having a human body.

I feel great compassion for your sister. It must be terrible to have been raped. I hope that she has been able to overcome the great pain she undoubtedly felt, and did nothing to deserve.
