Well...I can't help getting drawn into the discussion I inadvertantly triggered a few days ago... Why are we in the Balkans? It serves our national interests. Why did we pass on China? We need them as business partner. Etc etc. Pretty cold--and perhaps eminently practical--in the end. Clinton...well...don't want to tread too close to that--but an accused rapist is accused, not a rapist, so perhaps give him a little more room...but truth to tell, it's Madeline Albright who deserves responsibility here. I hate to criticize a woman in politics, as there are so few, but she messed up. Our own militia turning on our own states--I have a friend in North Carolina who says it has been such a nightmare there the last few months she is ready to move her entire family. The militia descends on the area, on a major manhunt for one guy--why? She said the helicopters were there early every morning, flying over her house, noisy--peace completely disturbed--armed agents everywhere, not a single hotel room free--this is a woman who is good natured and rarely gets upset and she was so infuriated at our government she was thinking of moving to New Zealand! Strange times indeed...and you point out that you don't need a lot of votes to get elected--that's something I fault every American for. Most of them don't vote. It's ridiculous.
