We went to an outdoor range. First rifle, then pistol.

Rifle is my current obsession. 100 yards to the target, and if the bullet holes are inside a one-inch circle you done good. I have a "benchrest" gun that should give me groups in the
"twos and threes" (tenths of an inch, center to center, five shots) if I do my thing right. This means finding the Right Load for this particular gun. I'm working that out.
Buddy was sorting out a coupla AR-15 pattern guns. Semiautomatic, which means that the empty *hot* case is flung off to one side. He took the bench to my left, and every rare so often I'd get a toasty "hello" tossed into the rear collar of my shirt. Kinda dicks with a guy's concentration.

No. Not my thing. That is a lot of exercise, and it is "war". Target shooting is more like bowling - you aren't shooting something. You're shooting for score. Zero aggression.

I love to shoot for shooting's sake, and in a quest for "accuracy" on target. If I were rural, I would hunt, particularly "varmints" and smaller game. I don't care for the martial side of shooting. That is one of my big beefs with folks like HCI. They suppress the notion that there is a kind of gun sport that is not about fighting or killing. And Hollywood isn't helping one bit. "Breaking Away" could be about a rifle champ as easily as a bicycler. Instead we get"The Jackal". B*stards.
