Florida Banks, Atlantic Bank & Trust, Sovereign Bancorp and North Fork Bancorp, all regional or subregional outfits, all whispered the words "Internet banking". From the previous week's close to their fleeting peak prices on Wednesday, the gains ranged from 437% for Florida Banks to a mere 23% for North Fork.

Friedman Billings Ramsey, a small Washington investment bank that had a Roman-candle kind of flash and fizzle in the IPO market last year, pitched in with plans to launch an online underwriting operation, purportedly to give the wired masses dibs on its new-issues pipeline. FBR's own stock jumped 6 1/16 to 12 1/2 .

Take a look at the volume on SVRN on its big days:

Friday volume on USAB of 1.5 million is nothing. If a stock is active it gets 10 million+ shares in one day. Yes, I grant you Friday's volume was bigger than USAB's daily average volume, but the volume clearly indicates that the stock is yet to be in play. IMHO the news which USAB indicated will be out this Monday will be the start of the big spike.

How high will USAB go?

FLBK went from $8 to $37 with a float of 4 million

ATLB went from $11 to $52 with a float of 4 million

SVRN went from $11 to $26 with a HUGE float of 153 million.

USAB will go from $11 to $$$$$ with its small float of 1.4 million.

What I like best is that there is little down side on Monday. USAB's 52 week low is $8 and that base has been raised to at least $10 with the net news. The risk is not the same as if you were buying ATLB at 30 or 40 after it run up from 11 or FLBK at 24 after it run up from $8.

Market Makers will try to play their games and try to pull back the price down a number of times to shake weak holders into selling. But with a 1.4 million float is going to be very hard.
