Pardon me, Chuzzlewit, but you missed the point.

Let me repeat it. Once again I cite the puzzling passage from your original post:

The problem here is a grammatical one. In the first sentence, you set up emotions as a subject (specifically, as the direct object of the verb) in the next sentence. But then, in the next sentence, we get these -- (reference to antecedent) -- behaviors . Oops -- wrong word!

And it is the wrong word, whether or not you can deal with complex emotions.

So, for the time being, I will not comment on the rest of your post.

Chuzz, you do this kind of thing (answering the wrong question) a lot! It is making me grouchy, because it suggests that you are not reading very carefully -- :-((
