<>the paper's Internet site (www.JOC.com) will become the primary vehicle for breaking news, while the redesigned newspaper itself will carry mostly analytical pieces<>

Looks like the companies and corporations using these Trade services are going to get Realtime breaking events over the internet and they have chosen ProNetLink.com as a means to deliver there vehicle, interesting.

<>The Journal of Commerce is owned by Economist Group of London, which is in turn 50% owned by media conglomerate Pearson PLC of London, publisher of the Financial Times of London<>

Economic Group of London and Media conglomerate Pearson PLC of London certainly know about ProNetLink.com and PNLK has there vote of Confidence for delivering there services (IMHO)

<>But the paper has cut its losses significantly and expects to make a "small profit" for the current fiscal year, officials said<>

ProNetLink.com is in the forefront of their cost cutting measures. Is Efficiency and effectiveness being produced thru PNL? looks that way to me.

<>with other electronic means, including the Web, now available, the paper is no longer the must read it was for news or schedules.
"In the days gone by, it was a must to have your ship schedules in the JOC," says Tim Rhein, chief executive of APL, an Oakland, Calif., shipping company that no longer pays to publish its schedules in the newspaper. "But now there are other means available, including the Internet".<>

This statement speaks for itself.

I think there are changes occuring everyday for the next 2-5 years in Business related Tasks and delivery systems. PNLK the Business worlds Import/Export Portal on line now.

The site is up this morning and looking great!

I'm liking the the shipping/forms section right this instant. It helps find forms, has a pop up glossary to select from, then allows viewing and printing. Online updates are a coming attraction.

<<International Trade Documentation may be classified into four broad categories, each defined as to purpose and the party responsible for document preparation:

Commercial Documentation:

These documents define the business end of international trade, and are usually initiated and prepared by the buying and/or selling parties or their financial agents such as banks. They specify terms of sales and delivery, and define responsibilities for all costs between the parties. Documents include: purchase orders & agreements, quotes & pro forma invoices, sales orders, commercial invoices and letters of credit. These forms usually appear in various generalized formats.

Declarations & Certifications:

Generally initiated by sellers/exporters, these documents certify various aspects of the international shipment to the overseas buyer, and are usually prepared and attested to by professional third-party agents or chambers of commerce. Examples are: certificates of origin, weight certificates, phytosanitary certificates, hazmat declarations, inspection certificates, and certificates of insurance. With the exception of the generalized certificate of origin, the formats of these documents are generally per the third-party agencies which issue them.

Transport Documents:

These documents evidence the movement of the merchandise from seller to buyer, and are usually issued by the carrier or freight agent which moved the goods. Either the seller or the buyer may be responsible for initiating these documents, depending on which is the responsible party per the commercial documents. Examples are: Air waybill, ocean bill of lading, dock receipt, motor/rail bill of lading, and pickup/delivery orders. These documents are usually specific to the carrier or freight agent which issued them.

Government Documents:

Required by government agencies regulating Trade in both the country of import and export, these documents are usually the responsibility of the buyer and seller. The seller, or his agent, is responsible for preparing export clearance declarations and export licenses for the export control agencies of his country. The seller is also responsible for preparing customs valuation and consular invoices and various types of origin declarations for the Customs agencies of the importing country. These documents are usually in formats specified by the Customs agencies. The buyer, or importer, is responsible for various import clearance and control documents for the Customs agencies in his country. These include import licenses, quota declarations, entry declarations, and a host of product-specific forms for various other governmental agencies. Due to the nature and intricacy of these documents, most importers rely on professionals such as Customs Brokers to prepare them.>>

And I stumbled on another gem from the shipping/forms section: (These little nuggets are everywhere!)
