"More than 900,000 copies of WordPerfect 8.0 for Linux have been downloaded off the Web..." Actually, MC said "900,000 attempts to download", there is no way of knowing how many downloaded successfully. When its free most people will give it a try (usually by the more technically astute people). How can you make money on free software. The only way is to hope that what they get for free now they will pay for the next upgrade. Only time will tell if this succeeds (it also depends upon what new features are added in subsequent versions, it has to be appealing enough to pay for it). Ciao! Jim Shaw
