JD, putting Greek troops on the ground against the Serbs is as unthinkable to Greeks as it is for an American not to have turkey in Thanksgiving. Regardless all these refugees a few hours away from the Greek border have ALREADY destabilize the situation in the region.

> Weak countries (like Greece) will capitulate to the soviet powers that remain and will rise with the other powers in resistance to this continued activity.

I wouldn't go that far but continued bombing sure does not help the situation.

> my opinion is Greece has already played its hand and failed with the big pronouncements of getting the pows out.

JD, that was not the Greeks trying to get the POWs released, that was the former Cypriot Prime Minister who for several years was lied to by the US govt that they will do something to solve the Cyprus problem, always to be disappointed and pushed over...So Kyprianou's intentions were quite obvious to people more in the know: if he got them out, he looked like a hero, if not he got to rub it in to the US and the Cypriots regard him as courageous for doing that and for meeting the Serbs and touring the bombing destruction...it was a win win for him.

As far as the Greek govt goes, they have to walk a very fine line. The Greek people are getting more and more against NATO by the hour with continued and ever increasing public demonstrations. Did you read the Greek govt's latest peace proposal (I posted it yesterday)IMHO it's the best thing that has been tabled so far.

I agree this whole mess is nuts
