OTOH, the short interest has declined significantly or is completely lacking (especially on new issues). Hence, support for the stock prices being in that spike may be small based (as you stated, only provided by bounce players).

Sometimes I tend to compare the situation with the mid-January - beginning of February setup.

All market manias come to an end. The internet is revolutionary but not that revolutionary as to justify the stupid valuations.
