CNBC, the party is over. I didn't say anything on Friday as CNBC was celebrating 10 years of being on the air. I didn't say anything on Saturday as that was CNBC's real birthday. Notice the word birthday not anniversary. All day Friday CNBC's folks waxed "happy anniversary" back and forth. Yeah, the anniversary of CNBC's birthday.
Now I could care less about typos and things like that but switching meanings for words is Clintonlike in nature and I've had enough of it.
I'm sure the crew at CNBC spends enough time together to feel like they are married to each other but they are not. Hence, yesterday was CNBCs birthday, or so said the high school and college I went to.
To make sure I went to the very book I used in high school. Webster's New World Dictionary, copyright 1966. Here is what Webster's says, you make the call as to did CNBC just have an anniversary or a birthday.

ANNIVERSARY: 1. occurring annually at the same date. 2. of an anniversary n. 1. the yearly return of the monthly date of some event. 2. the celebration of this.

BIRTHDAY: 1. the day of a person or THING'S beginning. 2. the ANNIVERSARY of this date.

Now this dictionary is old and I may have missed something, or something may have changed but unless I did miss something, or something has changed, it seems to me next year will should be looking at CNBC's 11 year birthday not anniversary. They can call it the anniversary of CBNC's birthday if they like if they are hung up on this anniversary thang.
This July 7th when the Old Yellow Dog turns 11, I won't give him a bone and say happy anniversary old boy. No I'll tell him happy birthday old boy. Birthday: 1. the day of a person or thing's beginning. 2. the ANNIVERSARY of this date. 909S2ALL Yer pal, BLUE
