Scott, I understand your argument. Although I bought AMZN, I can't say it has to be a success. But I like their management and their customer-centric philosophy. Also I believe an online version of department store is truly feasible albeit with a lot of initial investment to propel it into critical mass status. I don't believe AMZN and Wal-Mart is a zero-sum game. AMZN could threaten Wal-Mart and a slew of other old retailers, but the old retailers will exist 10 years from now, even 100 years from now. AMZN could share a big pie of the retail business. Maybe 10% from K-mart, 5% from Wal-Mart, 5% from Toy R US, and 5% from Costco. Success of AMZN doesn't necessarily mean failures of all the others. I bought 10 grand of AMZN, not much for me, however, if AMZN can become as big Wal-Mart, that could turn into a million for me, if not, so what, all it is is 10 grand. Let AMZN's Bezzos worry about the operation of his company, I don't worry. I only use a small money to buy a big opportunity, I feel it's worth it.
