Hi wily,

You were mentioning that you were thinking of picking up a motherboard with an onboard SCSI controller, sound and LAN capabilities.

Although TYAN makes some nice boards, I can never recommend picking up one with so many built-in features. If one part of the board goes down (and believe me, something will) there goes your system. Depending on the type of SCSI that you're going for, the Adaptect 2940UW should be fine. I picked up the U2, and it's class A for my 6 SCSI drives, and although I was thinking of picking up the M/B that had a U2 controller on board and hence saving a PCI slot...something told me not to.

On another note, on board sound usually sucks. <g>

Not much time to write more, but I'll follow up a little later.
